The West Berkshire Council Reablement Service has an opportunity into the position of Reablement Officer working as part of the team of officers who manage the first visits, risk assessment and care planning for service users covering the whole of the West Berks area.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for someone looking to enhance their existing skills. To fulfil this role you must have a good understanding of the service delivery of Reablement Care in the Community and a desire to work with others to maintain the standards set within the Reablement Service. Experience in risk assessing and care planning would be an advantage, and an NVQ2 is an essential requirement with Level 3 and/or equivalent would also be advantageous. Experience of working with Outlook and the Microsoft Office suit of programmes is essential and any experience of working with Cold Harbour would be an advantage, although full training would be given.
The Reablement Officers are responsible for carrying out all of the first visits to Service Users entering the system, completing risk assessments and writing up of the initial care plans and are responsible for the vital first step in the enablement process. The Reablement Officers work closely with the Reablement Co-ordinators and the Occupational Therapists to ensure all information is shared and actioned and they are also responsible for the handover process to the Reablement Assistants to ensure that the care continues in a professional manner. The Reablement Officers also chair the weekly Reablement Assistant/Reablement Officer meetings which are also attended by an Occupational Therapist from the Maximising Independence team these meetings are, again, a vital part of the information sharing process.
The shift pattern worked is as the Universal Rota, working 7 days out of 14 (every other weekend) with 2 shifts; 7.00am to 17.30pm and 11.30am to 10.00pm with each Reablement Officer working 2 weeks of the earlier shift followed by 2 weeks of later shifts.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
