ABOUT THE JOB
As a Project Engineer specialising in Traffic Management, you will manage the design, construction and implementation of numerous Traffic Management and Road Safety highway improvement projects across West Berkshire.
You will be involved in accident investigation and prevention work and will tasked with assisting other teams and stakeholders across the Council, providing Traffic and Road Safety advice for new and existing signing and lining schemes, specifically the introduction of new and amended Traffic Regulation Orders. You will also need to manage and respond to enquiries and requests from residents and Councillors.
The post holder will need to undertake physical site visits and inspections under minimal supervision. Attendance at project related meetings outside of core hours may occasionally be required.

The Traffic Management & Road Safety Team is part of the wider Network Management Team and sits alongside Streetworks, ITS, Highways Development Control and Highway Projects. The successful applicant will have proven experience in the design, management and supervision of Traffic and Road Safety Highway improvement schemes and small Highway engineering projects.
It would be ideal if you have held a similar role at a Local Authority, Council or Public Sector organisation and have an excellent understanding of relevant legislation, including the Highways Act 1980 and Road Traffic Regulation act 1984 and TSRGD.
Knowledge and experience of the process of drafting and implementing TRO’s and is required and the use of AccMaps and AutoCad signing and lining design packages is also desirable.
In order to be considered for this position, you must hold a valid UK driving licence.
